Ahhhh... nothing like original Armenian documentation to turn their genocide myth upon its ear. (Not that the faithful will be convinced, of course; even a notarized statement from God testifying against genocide would do the trick for these poor souls.)

The following documents are from a 1916 book published in the Ottoman Empire, and in English yet; there are many more powerful sources within its pages, and hopefully in time we'll present more.

This book has been reprinted in Turkey only recently. You can imagine how pathetically the Ottomans were appealing to the honor of people worldwide who believed in the massive propaganda campaign waged against them. Little did they realize people then -- as the people of the West today -- did/do not care about the real facts of the "genocide." Yet the Ottomans kept banging their heads against the wall, desperately giving people the benefit of a doubt that they would care for the genuine facts... and pleading that the lies said about their empire weren't true, as here was proof that Armenians had betrayed their country.

It's unbelievable that the hopelessly incompetent Turks, when it comes to presenting their case, kept this marvelous source under wraps all of these years. Evidently, this book has been out of circulation since 1916. Crazy!

Catholicos Kevork Calls All Armenians to Support Russia

Translation of an appeal published by the Catholicos of Etchmiadzine and addressed to the Armenians.

(Extract from the August issue 1914 of the "Ararat," official organ of the Catholicos.)

Kevork, Servant of Jesus Christ, by the eternal will of God, Catholicos of all the Armenians, Holy patriarch of the High Seat of the Mother-Church of Ararat, Catholicos of the Saint-Etchmiadzine.

Kevork V

In the name of Christ, greetings and blessings of the Seat of Catholicos to all honourable Archbishops, illustrious Bishops, venerable priests, notable and happy riches, traders and industrials, and peasants all earning their bread by the sweat of their brows, school masters and instructors who render marked services of beneficience, people who deal with national questions, in a word, all those true sons of the Mother-church.

You know well that the enemy has attacked from outside our fatherland, the great Russia.

In spite of the pacific desires of our Government and its efforts based upon its good intentions a terrible war has unfortunately broken out amongst the civilised states and nations of Europe.

In such a historical moment like this, full of misfortunes and terrors, the only thing which brings consolation to the people of Great Russia is to work together, just like the members of the same family, by uniting their activity and their loyalty for the defence of the right and justice and for the preservation of the nations against tyranny and injustice.

Union assures victory and happiness, and concorde produces good acts and constitutes the foundation of heroic actions.

We will console ourselves by recomanding [recommending?] our sons that each of them, wherever he may be, should fulfill personally and with enthusiasm and energy their civil and political duties towards the Government to defend our motherland as well as its glories.

Armenians must show the world their feelings of devotion towards the majestic and magnificent throne of the Emperor of Russia, devotion which dates since centuries, as already proved by history, they ought equally to show the world that they are all animated with the same feeling of constancy and firmness of this ideal.

Being sure that our sons will follow the footsteps of their [fore]fathers, they will consequently fulfill their personal duties with courage and bravery, we hasten to invite them by the present appeal, to extend their brotherly help, moral and material, to the families standing in need of assistance of those who are to fight for the safety and the honour and triumph of the Great Russia, our fatherland.

During this terrible war a great number of wounded will be in need of care and assistance and it is the duty of the sons of [the] fatherland, as Christians, to hasten to help them and to try to soothe their sufferings as good Samaritans.

I pray God for the success and victory of the heroic Russian soldiers. You be blessed all, and implore the divine blessings, so that the Great Russia will be kept out of all dangers and mischiefs of the enemy.

Let it live eternally in full victory and let its loyal population enjoy a long happiness.

Kevork V.

Armenians Pledge Allegiance to France

To the French People

At the beginning of the hostilities some fifty men of our small Armenian Colony have hastened to join as volunteers the "Legion Etrangére" thus giving a plain proof of their deep sympathy for France, France which always defends the oppressed People, and showing the gratitude which imposes on us the duty of gathering around her.

When the diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Allies were broken, it will suffice to look at the map to find out that on the Caucasian Frontier, to consolidate ourselves with our great friend and protector. Russia, we were at once called up, though through our modest means to play the same role as the heroic Belgium.

Our interests are mixed up with those of Russia. The proclamation made by His Majesty Nicolas II, the Tzar of all the great Russia and the King of Armenia, is a brilliant homage paid to our secular loyalty. Thousands of our brethren will fall on the field of honour and in the ranks of the Moscovite Army to serve for the cause of civilisation and to save Armenia from the horrible Turkish yoke. While the innocent blood of our 300,000 brethren was streaming under the yatagans of these professional criminals, the good God of Christians had turned out all lights in Heaven not to witness the horrible spectacle of atrocities committed on our poor planet by these bandit Turks.

The time has come when the armies of the Republic will join in a brotherly way those of Haughty AIbion to exterminate the lands of Red William, the worthy friend of the Red Sultan, which had poisoned the atmosphere of Europe since the Iast 44 years, and to free the whole World of this ghost called the German Supremacy. The brave Russian Army will also enter into the Armenian frontier to free Europe and Asia of those bloodthirsty Turks whose presence on the beautiful smiling shores of the Bosphorus constitutes a howling shame to both civilisation and humanity, the spot fit for them to live in being their caverns near Mecca and Medina, and whence they ought not to have gone out.

In this struggle where big armies are fighting we Armenians also desire to have our share of glory against those criminals of our Dear Armenia and also against all these Boshes, protectors of Turks. Consequently our position in this struggle will be designed to be on the side of our friends, French, Russian and English, so that through their fraternal generosity the French will not confound us with our murderers.

Ahead, for the right of the people and ahead for liberty!

GREAT RUSSIA!

LONG LIVE DEAR FRANCE!

LONG LIVE ENGLAND!

LONG LIVE RUSSIAN ARMENIA!

For the Committee of organisation

of Armenian Voluntary

(Signed) TURABIAN ARAM, delegate.

Holdwater: Yes, France always "defends the oppressed people," all right.

Forces for truth owe a debt to Aram Turabian (or Tourabian), for his kindly having put on record powerful evidence debunking the genocide myth. The monsieur wrote a 1917 book, Les Volontaires Arméniens sous les Drapreaux Francais ("The Armenian volunteers under the French flags"), where he spilled plenty of beans. Here is an extract and, on the link's same page, another reference.

Armenians Pledge Allegiance to the Entente Powers

Extracts from the December issue (1914) of the Armenian paper "Hintchak," published in Paris, organ of the Armenian Hintchak Committee.

The Hintchak Social Democrat Committee representing the Armenian nation, exposed to vexations and deprived of its rights which has been working since over a quarter of a century in a bloody path to obtain the liberation of the Armenians in Turkey, now descends, driven by the power of actual political events, from the Taurus Mountains and the borders of Armenia down to the battle-field, blowing the trumpet of strife and revolution, to drown in blood the Ottoman tyranny.

In this gigantic struggle where existence of nations is at stake, the Hintchak Committee as well as the entire Armenian nation, will join their forces, moral and material, and waving the sword of revolution in their hands, will enter into this world war.

As comrades of arms of the Triple Entente and particularly of Russia they will co-operate with the Allies, making full use of all political and revolutionary means they possess, for the final victory in Armenia, Cilicia, Caucasus and Azerbaydjan, being always led by their patriotism and thus fulfilling their duties towards themselves and towards civilization.

Let all heroes who will sacrifice their lives for the great cause of the Armenian freedom, come forward with all their moral and material strength for the realisation of this national aspiration.

It is only by these means that the Armenians, proud for having shed their blood for their own cause and that of civilization, may represent the nation at the Congress to be held on the morrow of the war.

Let it obtain its political liberty; let it show to the world that it has a right to live, and finally let it obtain, through the consent of the Triple Entente, the independence granted to their fatherland for which it has shed its blood.

And from the rays of liberty let the sun of right, justice, liberty and fraternity rise.

Well, then, forward Comrades... Forward to work. Let us crush down the death, death which threatens Armenia, so that it lives and it lives for ever ...

1913 Strategy for Treason

Circular No. 2 Addressed to different branches of the Armenian Tachnaksootioun Revolutionary committee.

(Strictly confidential)
5 March, 1913

Compatriots,

The renewal of the Balkan war has again stirred the political world. It is believed that for this reason the Armenian question will for the moment be dropped. But in reality, the contrary is the case. For delegations, men chosen as delegates and especially our Committee has already taken the necessary step to prepare from now the ground to put forward on the diplomatic table the Armenian question and to assure its satisfactory solution.

We extract from the letters received at this office the following important information. First we communicate to you the three definite points relative to the Armenian Cause.

1. — Our cause will not be included in the programme of the present Conference of the Ambassadors.

2. — The three great Powers, France, England. and Russia will take up the Armenian question only after the final conclusion of the peace.

3. — The above mentioned three powers have agreed to establish a special administration in the Armenian provinces so as to guarantee the application of the projected reforms. Monsieur Poincaré in Paris, Sir Edward Gray in London and M. Sassonoff in Petersburg as well as their respective Ambassador in Constantinople have emited this opinion and have recommended to observe for the moment an expectative attitude. The Anglo-Armenian Committee at London which includes many influential members of the Balkan Committee amongst its constituents is actually displaying a great activity.

President William Howard Taft, shown here with Teddy Roosevelt

Pres. William Taft felt Armenians formed
the "backbone" of the Ottoman Empire,
idealizing them as much as he vilified
Turks; not unlike Pres. Roosevelt, at left.

This Committee has addressed an energetic memorandum to the rulers and cabinets of the six great powers and a copy of the same was sent to M. Taft, president of the government of the U.S. of America.

We hear from a reliable source that the Ambassadors of France England, and Russia have received the necessary instructions from their respective governments to take up and to study the Armenian question.

We are doing our best to see that other powers will also join the above-mentioned governments or at least prevent them from raising objection as to the settlement of the Armenian question. At present it is more than certain that the Armenian question will not be brought before the Ambassadors Conference.

This must not by no means discourage our nation for it is decided that the question of Asia Minor will not be settled before the solution of the Roumelian question. The French Government and its Ambassador in Constantinople are deeply interested in our cause. The most important point is that no difference of opinion should arise between Russia and England regarding the Armenian question. Armenians of Petersburg have addressed the President of the Imperial Council and the Foreign Minister. Both the President and the Minister have favourably entertained their application by informing them that the necessary instructions will be given to their Ambassador in Constantinople. They have at the same time advised them to go on with their propaganda both in France and England (rather a strange recommendation).

As we have previously written to you the Patriarchate has nearly accepted the entire proposition. We are now requested that we should expose them in detail all motives regarding the aforesaid points. It is now this point which preoccupies us. We hope soon to be able to despatch you the necessary details on the principal points.

Two Armenian delegations have arrived here from Petersburg with the object of approaching the principal Armenian circles of Constantinople. They have returned back after fully obtaining important informations. Advises have reached us from Van stating that these Armenian bands of “individual defence," have already produced an excellent and profound impression upon kurds [sic] and the Governor General of that locality has already changed his policy towards us by approaching delegation. In this country besides question of political nature we have also the questions of “individual defence," which is a question of vital importance. In certain parts of the country the position of the Armenians has become [u]ntenable. it is only on this point that we should like to direct all our attention so as to be able to avoid a second political crisis and thus to be entitled to live peacefully.

Comrades, Taking into consideration the actual circumstances we venture to beg of our brethren the following:

1. — To collect from the members the subscription for the year of 1913 and forward us the name.

2. — To make communications to the effect that sums produced through the activity of the Red Cross Society, concerts, theatrical performances as well as through other Societies, belonging to the Tachnaksootioun Committee, should always be employed for the benefits of the “individual defence."

3. — To keep up the propaganda and to continue to hold meetings. We are sure that the better class of people are with us.

4. — To double the activity in collecting subscriptions (for nothing but to live) opened by the Daily Hairenik.

5. — Collect money to the benefit of Individual defence, in public meetings, such as in banquets, feasts and holidays. (In the passages following the above they reproduced articles published by the newspaper "Trochak," dealing with the importance of the individual defence organisation they have also made mention of localities without names — they probably meant some parts of Turkey in spaces left blank — where Committee leads had gone to organise the "individual defence" they have also said of the change of late in the attitude of the Russian Consuls at Erzroum, Van and Bitlis towards the Ottoman Government and the threat of the Russian Consular Agent at Van who had warned the valy of that locality that at the outbreak of any kind of disturbances exposing the lives of the Armenians to danger, the Russian armies shall be compelled to cross at once the frontier at Azerbaydjan to reestablish the order. Finally a description of the position of the Armenians in Persia was given to conclude the above paragraphs.)

Ottoman-Armenians, Rescue Us from Our "Great Protector" !

Compatriots,

Caucasus which had been for many years the scene of the Armenian revolutionary actions is now unfortunately groaning under the grip of a most cruel despotism. It is exactly two years today since the elite of the Armenian race has been martyrised in the horrible dungeons of the Tzar.

After the Russian revolution Caucasus had fallen in the hands of reactionary people who, encouraged by their bloody success, had so pitilessly crushed down the elite of the Armenian race.

Professors, poets, traders, artisans, intellectual people, workmen and insurgents and many others are all groaning under the dark roofs of jails.

Compatriots,

Armenians who are suffering today at the Caucasus and who had run away from Hamidian tyranny through the bloody paths of the frontier are of the same race as the Armenians of this country for whom we have obtained freedom and liberty. These Armenians are our real brethren who in the dark days of our misfortunes lived peacefully near by us and shared our sufferings; and in the days when revolution and strife were raging they were in grief whith us and did not hesitate in shedding their blood for our just cause.

The struggle which is going on for the object of securing the rights of the people has already been crowned with success in the Ottoman territory, but on the other side of the Turkish frontier the rotten government of the Tzar Is still ruling. There, the revolutionary idea is still fighting with all its might, against the horrible despotism which is trespassing upon the very simple and natural rights of the people.

In the past, frontiers could not possibly stop nor delay the propagation of revolutionary ideas and Caucasians have, during the last twenty years, sacrificed all they had and all they could to support liberal movements of their brethren of blood. Today the same frontiers will never stop nor hinder the sacred aspirations of the Armenians of Turkey especially at a time when our brethren groan in the prisons and who are brought before the Russian courts being accused as political offenders. The Armenians of Turkey who enjoy the liberty granted by the constitution can not possibly remain indifferent towards their ill-fated brethren who are exposed, day and night, to gross vexations on the part of the Russian gendarmes. Animated with profound conviction, the Rayon Society, forming the oriental section of the Armenian Tachnaksootioun Revolutionary Committee, invite all the Armenians of Turkey, without any distinction of class, to extend as quickly as they can every possible material assistance to those Armenians who are confined in the prisons of the Caucasus as well as their helpless families and their beloved ones.

Assistance is urgently needed and great sacrifices are wanted as the trial of those prisoners of which the history will keep a record in its pages, will soon commence. With this object in view the Rayon Society has founded a relief bureau under the control of the leaders of the Tachnaksootioun Committee and at the same time gave orders to its branches to start to collect donations. Donations may be sent to the address of the editor of the Armenian daily ‘Harath ‘published at Erzeroum or of ‘Azadamard' in Constantinople.

Compatriots,

The Tachnaksootioun Committee addressing you at present is fully convinced that the Armenians of Turkey will immediately respond to this appeal and offer a part of their savings as donations to their brethren in distress and thus proving, once more, that, although separated by a long frontier, from their brethren of Caucasus there always exists a solid union between the true sons of the same race.

(Signed)

The Rayon Society of the Oriental Branch of the Armenians
Tachnaksootioun Revolutionary Committee

THE PURPOSE OF TALL ARMENIAN TALE (TAT)
...Is to expose the mythological “Armenian genocide,” from the years 1915-16. A wartime tragedy involving the losses of so many has been turned into a politicized story of “exclusive victimhood,” and because of the prevailing prejudice against Turks, along with Turkish indifference, those in the world, particularly in the West, have been quick to accept these terribly defamatory claims involving the worst crime against humanity. Few stop to investigate below the surface that those regarded as the innocent victims, the Armenians, while seeking to establish an independent state, have been the ones to commit systematic ethnic cleansing against those who did not fit into their racial/religious ideal: Muslims, Jews, and even fellow Armenians who had converted to Islam. Criminals as Dro, Antranik, Keri, Armen Garo and Soghoman Tehlirian (the assassin of Talat Pasha, one of the three Young Turk leaders, along with Enver and Jemal) contributed toward the deaths (via massacres, atrocities, and forced deportation) of countless innocents, numbering over half a million. What determines genocide is not the number of casualties or the cruelty of the persecutions, but the intent to destroy a group, the members of which  are guilty of nothing beyond being members of that group. The Armenians suffered their fate of resettlement not for their ethnicity, having co-existed and prospered in the Ottoman Empire for centuries, but because they rebelled against their dying Ottoman nation during WWI (World War I); a rebellion that even their leaders of the period, such as Boghos Nubar and Hovhannes Katchaznouni, have admitted. Yet the hypocritical world rarely bothers to look beneath the surface, not only because of anti-Turkish prejudice, but because of Armenian wealth and intimidation tactics. As a result, these libelous lies, sometimes belonging in the category of “genocide studies,” have become part of the school curricula of many regions. Armenian scholars such as Vahakn Dadrian, Peter Balakian, Richard Hovannisian, Dennis Papazian and Levon Marashlian have been known to dishonestly present only one side of their story, as long as their genocide becomes affirmed. They have enlisted the help of "genocide scholars," such as Roger Smith, Robert Melson, Samantha Power, and Israel Charny… and particularly  those of Turkish extraction, such as Taner Akcam and Fatma Muge Gocek, who justify their alliance with those who actively work to harm the interests of their native country, with the claim that such efforts will help make Turkey more" democratic." On the other side of this coin are genuine scholars who consider all the relevant data, as true scholars have a duty to do, such as Justin McCarthy, Bernard Lewis, Heath Lowry, Erich Feigl and Guenter Lewy. The unscrupulous genocide industry, not having the facts on its side, makes a practice of attacking the messenger instead of the message, vilifying these professors as “deniers” and "agents of the Turkish government." The truth means so little to the pro-genocide believers, some even resort to the forgeries of the Naim-Andonian telegrams or sources  based on false evidence, as Franz Werfel’s The Forty Days of Musa Dagh. Naturally, there is no end to the hearsay "evidence" of the prejudiced pro-Christian people from the period, including missionaries and Near East Relief representatives, Arnold Toynbee, Lord Bryce, Lloyd George, Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt, and so many others. When the rare Westerner opted to look at the issues objectively, such as Admirals Mark Bristol and Colby Chester, they were quick to be branded as “Turcophiles” by the propagandists. The sad thing is, even those who don’t consider themselves as bigots are quick to accept the deceptive claims of Armenian propaganda, because deep down people feel the Turks are natural killers and during times when Turks were victims, they do not rate as equal and deserving human beings. This is the main reason why the myth of this genocide has become the common wisdom.
